Sunrise Hotel – Ammouliani

Peninsula Halkidiki, din nordul Greciei, Macedonia Centrală, are forma unei mâini cu trei degete înconjurate de minunata Mare Egee. Insula Ammouliani se află între al doilea și al treilea braț, adică între Sithonia și brațul Athos.

Ammouliani (greacă: Αμμουλιανή) este o insulă de 5 km², situată în Halkidiki, la 120 km de Salonic, în apropiere de Muntele Athos, Golful Halkidiki, și insule cu plaje sublime, cum ar fi Alikes, Ag. Georgios, Megali Ammos, Karagatsia, dar și o mulțime de alte golfuri mici, adorabile.

Până la începutul anilor 1900, a fost dependentă de Mănăstirea Vatoped, din Muntele Athos. În 1925, insula a fost dată familiilor refugiaților care au venit din insulele Propontida (Marea Marmaras). Populația insulei s-a dezvoltat rapid, iar astăzi insula are 5-600 de rezidenți.

Ca peste tot în Grecia, turismul este la el acasă și aici, așa că era firească participarea la diverse târguri de turism, inclusiv la Târgul de Turism al României, unde l-am avut interlocutor pe Nikitas Martigakis:

Emil Stanciu: Cum se explică prezența voastră la București?

Nikitas Martigakis: Am venit prima oară la Târgul de Turism al României în urmă cu 4 ani și de atunci, an de an, ne simțim mai bine aici. Turiștii români cunosc destul de bine insula Ammouliani și vin cu plăcere în mica noastră insulă. Avem ca oaspeți mai ales familii. Insula este foarte aproape de Muntele Athos, așa că românii, majoritar ortodocși, vin cu plăcere și pentru a pune piciorul pe acest pământ sfânt sau doar pentru a face o croazieră până în sudul peninsulei Athos.

Mihai Vasile: Ați venit aici pe cont propriu sau ați fost trimiși de oficialitățile insulei Ammouliani?

NM: Am fost trimiși de o asociație de afaceri care reunește patronii de hoteluri, restaurante, campinguri, pe scurt, aproape toți oamenii care au afaceri în insula noastră. Asociația, care are în jur de 100 de membri, organizează în fiecare an aceste participări la târgurile de turism din țările de unde dorim să ne vină oaspeți.

ES: Ați avut ca oaspeți și turiști români…

N.M: Da, bineînțeles! În ultimii 7 ani, întotdeauna am avut și turiști români. În hotelul nostru, Sunrise Hotel, nu numai că-i primim cu drag, dar încercăm și să comunicăm cu ei în limba română, câțiva dintre angajații noștri provenind din țara dumneavoastră. Interesul pe care românii îl arată pentru insula Ammouliani, cât și pentru hotelul nostru este foarte mare și acest lucru se poate vedea chiar aici, la Târgul de Turism al României și prin interesul pe care numeroșii vizitatori îl arată standului nostru.

M.V: Ați făcut rezervări, acum la târg, pentru vacanța de vară?

N.M: Da, bineînțeles, mai ales că în acest an prețurile sunt cu 10% mai scăzute decât anul trecut.

MV: V-ați înscris hotelul pe site-ul www.booking.com?

NM: Suntem pe site-ul amintit de dumneavoastră încă din anul 2011. Este unul dintre multele instrumente pe care atât noi, cât și ceilalți colegi ai noștri din „industria ospeției” le folosim pentru promovare.

ES: Cum se prezintă topul turiștilor străini care vin să-și petreacă vacanța în insula Ammouliani?

NM: Din total, aproape 40% sunt turiști din Bulgaria, 30% din România, 10% sunt din Serbia și alte 10 procente turiștii veniți din Germania, Rusia, Franța și Marea Britanie, dar și 10% din Grecia.

MV? Doar 10% sunt turiști din Grecia?

NM: Da, pentru că sezonul turistic începe în luna mai și se termină la mijlocul lui octombrie, iar grecii, cu excepția a 20-30 de zile între 20 iulie și 20 august trebuie să lucreze sau își fac vacanța în alte țări. Cu 10 ani în urmă aveam aproape numai turiști greci, dar acum, după deschiderea granițelor, odată cu intrarea în UE a mai multor țări, balanța s-a schimbat.

ES: Turistic, ați fost afectați de criza care bântuie de câtva timp prin Europa și prin lume?

NM: Pe plan turistic nu prea am fost afectați și, din an în an, ne este mai bine. Chiar am observat că turiștii, inclusiv cei din România, au venit la noi cu gândul să ne ajute. Iar noi privim cu bucurie solidaritatea pe care ne-o arată și încercăm să le oferim un sejur de neuitat.

ES: Dacă vrei să ne mai spuneți ceva, ascultăm cu plăcere.

NM: Aș mai sublinia câteva aspecte despre insula Ammouliani: există pe insula noastră 23 de plaje, mari și mici, majoritatea fără pietre, apa este curată, cristal, insula este situată foarte aproape de Muntele Athos, se fac multe croaziere pentru turiștii care doresc să admire de la distanță mânăstirile din acest ținut sfânt, dar și aproape de continent, la aproximativ 10 minute de mers cu feribotul, ceea ce înseamnă că trecerea este și foarte ieftină, Cursele acestuia încep de dimineață și se încheie după lăsarea serii.

MV: Insula Măgarilor…

NM: Insula Măgarilor, pentru cei care n-o cunosc, se află în sudul Insulei Ammouliani și este despărțită de aceasta printr-o strâmtoare. Dacă vrei s-o vezi trebuie să închiriezi o barcă.

Halkidiki peninsula from the Northern part of Greece, Central Macedonia, has the shape of a hand with three fingers surrounded by the wonderful Egeean Sea. Ammouliani Island is situated between the second and third arm, this means between Sithonia and Athos arm.

Ammouliani (in Greek: Αμμουλιανή) is a 5km square island, situated in Halkidiki, at 120 km from Salonic, next to the Athos Mountain, Halkidiki Gulf and island, with marvellous beaches like Alikes, Ag. Georgios, Megali, Ammos, Karagatsia and other amazing gulfs.

Until 1900, it depended on Vatoped Monastery on the Athos Mountain. In 1925 the island was given to the refugee families which came from Propontida Islands (the Marmara Sea). The island’s population developed quickly and nowadays the island has 5-600 residents.

As everywhere in Greece, tourism is at home here, too, so it is normal to participate in different tourism fairs, including the Tourism Fair in Romania, where I had Nikitas Martigakis as a special guest.

Emil Stanciu: How do you explain your presence here in Bucharest?

Nikitas Martigakis: I first came to the Tourism Fair of Romania four years ago and since then every year we feel better coming here. The Romanian tourists heard pretty well about Ammouliani Island and they happily come on our small island. We usually have families as guests. The island is quite near to the Athos Mountain, so the Romanians in their most majority Orthodox, come here gladly to put foot on this holy land or at least for a cruise up to the South of the Athos peninsula.

Mihai Vasile: Did you come here on your own or you were sent by the officials of Ammouliani Island? 

NM: We were sent by a business association which reunites hotel, restaurant, camping owners, in a word almost all people who have a business in our island.

ES: Did you have Romanian tourists as guests as well?

NM: Yes, of course. In the last seven years, we always had Romanian tourists. In our hotel, Sunrise Hotel, not only we happily receive them, but we also try to communicate in Romanian, some of our employees originating from your country. The interest the Romanians show for Ammouliani Island and for our hotel is great and you can see these things here, at the Tourism Fair of Romania, and in the interest that many visitors show to our stand.

MV: Did you make any reservations here, at this fair, for the summer holidays?

NM: Certainly, and especially due to the fact that prices are 10% lower than last year.

MV: Did you subscribe the hotel on the site www.booking.com?

NM: We are still on this site since 2011. It is one of the many instruments that both us and the other colleagues from “guest industry” use to promote them.

ES: What about the foreign tourist top who come to spend their holidays in Ammouliani Island?

NM: From the hotel, almost 40% tourists come from Bulgaria, 30% from Romania, 10% from Serbia and other 10% tourists come from Germany, Russia, France and Great Britain, but also 10% from Greece.

MV: Only 10% from Greece?

NM: Yes, this because the touristic season starts in May and finishes in the middle of October and the Greeks must work, except for20-30 days, between 20th July to 20th August, or they go for a holiday to other countries. However ten years ago we only had Greek tourists, but now, after the opening of borders and the joining to UE of several more countries, the balance changed.

ES: Touristically, were you affected by the crisis which goes through Europe as well as everywhere in the world?

NM: On the touristic plan we were not affected, and every year it is better. I noticed that the tourists, including the Romanians come here to help us. And we appreciate the solidarity they show us and we try to offer them an unforgettable stay.

ES: If you want to add something, we are only glad to hear.

NM: I would like to underline some more aspects about Ammouliani Island: there are 23 beaches on our island, big and small, the majority without stones, the water is clear, crystal like, the island is very near to the Athos Mountain and there are many cruises for the tourists who wish to admire from the distance, the monasteries of this holy land; and it is also near the continent, only 10 minutes by ferry, which means that” passing” is very cheap. The ferryboat courses start in the morning and end with the night fall.

MV: What about the Donkeys’ Island?

NM: The Donkeys’ Island, for those who don’t know is in the South of Ammouliani Island and it is separated by a strait. If you want to see it you have to hire a boat.
